Are you an undergraduate or postgraduate student based in the UK? Fancy some work experience in the world of magazine and literary publishing? Then read on…
Erotic Review are offering a current undergraduate or postgraduate student the opportunity to undertake an unpaid, part-time work experience position at Erotic Review and Coombs Moylett Maclean Literary Agency.
Successful applicants will work under the direct supervision of ER editor and literary agent, Jamie Maclean. They will gain a broad insight into the commercial and creative sides of writing, editing and publishing fiction and non-fiction.
As part of ER, interns will be expected to write, edit, and proofread new content for the website, liaise with authors, and publicise ER through social media, as well as offering general administrative support to the editorial team. Interns will receive feedback and mentoring on their writing and editorial work. Training will be provided on how to use ER’s online Content Management System, as well as on the basic use of Adobe Indesign and Photoshop. Interns may also be involved with a new e-publishing house, Erotic Review Books.
Working with CMM, interns will help to manage and update our database of publishing contacts, research and report on new authors seeking representation, and help agents to represent authors to potential publishing houses.
This is a (minimum) 8-week unpaid volunteer position, with flexibility for full- or part-time hours, working primarily on a one-to-one basis with the editor at his personal office. Start date negotiable. We are unable to offer travel expenses, but lunch is provided.
We are looking for mature, professional and open-minded individuals who can write and appraise entertaining prose about eroticism, sex and sexuality with an eye to its cultural relevance. You must have excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and be comfortable with independent, project-based work. Applicants should be fully proficient in MS Office. Experience with social media, WordPress, etc. beneficial, but not essential. All disciplines and backgrounds welcome, but we would particularly encourage applications from final year undergraduate and postgraduate students.
